The people that provide your services every day are most important to Shine Homecare but our health and care support staff are just one part of a team dedicated to promoting your dignity, safety and independence.
SelectionOur process of recruitment is very robust, from application to interview, ensuring that only those individuals who really want to make a difference with us are selected. From that point, two professional references and an enhanced Criminal Record Bureau disclosure check are applied for and only on return of these vital checks is the individual allowed to commence training.
TrainingWe have a dedicated training structure for every position at Shine Homecare and all employees pass through our induction programme, consisting of two key elements:
* Classroom based and electronic training that significantly surpasses the common induction standards for social care, covering topic areas from Health and Safety, Manual Handling and Infection Control to Dementia Awareness, Care Planning and Emergency Action. This training benefits from the joint expertise of the Hospice Education and Learning Development Teams.
* Practical coaching, carried out in the community under the supervision of the Care Agency Manager/Lead Nurse . This coaching is vital, given that the majority of our services are delivered by lone working employees in community. We must ensure they have the skills required for working without direct supervision and this practical aspect of our training and development programme is vital in ensuring our community teams’ ability to deliver.
